Postpartum-Only Care

Regardless of birthing location, postpartum is a tender, sacred, challenging time. The current culture in the US of frequent pediatric appointments for the baby and one 6-week visit for the birthing parent is enough to make any person despair at the thought of postpartum.
Here are at HRM, we see it differently - postpartum care is everything. Therefore, we offer postpartum and newborn care to all folks, even if you are planning a hospital birth. This care includes;
-
Direct access to a midwife for yourself and your baby for the first 4-6 weeks postpartum.
-
If you and the baby are well and uncomplicated we will accept you in our care as soon as 6 hours postpartum after a vaginal birth and 18 hours after a cesarean birth.
*Cannot guarantee an early discharge based on different factors, but we will advocate for you!
-
At least (but not limited to) 4 in-home visits from a midwife and/or IBCLC to assess both you and your baby for healing, mental health, infant feeding, nutrition and more!
-
No trips to your pediatrician for their first 28 days of life!* Care includes exams, weight checks, and routine screenings (if not performed at the hospital).
*We would certainly refer/send you to your pediatrician if a need arises
-
Hour-long 6 week postpartum visit at the office to review anything and everything with the option for lab work, pap, or IUD/Nexplanon insertion.
