To attend birthing people in their homes is sacred work. We love coming alongside folks during the transformative work of birth, and helping you have a safe, physiologic birth, however you choose.

Service Area

We attend home birth within 1 hour of driving distance from our office address. This includes areas in the following counties

Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Harnett, Lee, Moore, Orange, Person, Randolph, Rockingham, Wake

Occasionally we are able to travel further with an additional travel fee. This is based on several factors that can be discussed during a consultation.

  • Full-scope midwifery care from conception through your six week postpartum visit (and beyond!). Birth on your terms, on your turf. Our are grounded in the Midwifery Model of Care, a person-centered approach to pregnancy and birth care. Our relationship is built on trust and shared-decision making. We respect your intuition and bodily autonomy we work together to have a safe and empowering birth experience.

    • Full prenatal care in our office, starting as early as the first trimester, referring out for ultrasounds as needed/desired.

    • Many lab services in the office through labcorps.

    • Birth care in your home from 37-42 weeks of pregnancy and presence, support and advocacy in the hospital if needed

    • Unlimited, but at least 3 in-home postpartum visits in your home within the first two weeks, including a visit from a lactation consultant.

    • All routine newborn care for the first 28 days of life, including a newborn exam, ongoing weight checks and routine screenings and medications.

    • 60 minute long, comprehensive six-week postpartum appointment in the office, assessing all the things from general wellbeing to contraception (including an IUD or Nexplanon if desired) to mental health to nutrition etc etc etc!

  • Someone who...

    • Has a strong belief in the capability of their body and the physiological process of birth

    • Takes full responsibility for themselves, their choices, and the health of themselves and their baby

    • Is motivated to be an active participant in their health care and develop a trusting partnership with their midwifery team

    • Has no history of cesarean or other uterine surgery

    • Is carrying a singleton pregnancy (only one baby)

    • Does not require medication for their blood pressure

    • Does not have diabetes that requires medication 

    • Lives within 60 minutes from our office in Saxapahaw, NC*

      Part of safe community birth is ongoing risk assessments to ensure that you continue to be a good candidate for home birth care. If any point you risk out for pregnancy-related reasons (we can discuss what these might be in your consult), we will assist you in finding a provider that can meet your needs.
